Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced the "Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023." This Quality Control Order sets new standards for self-contained drinking water coolers.
Effective Date: The "Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023" will take effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Self-Contained Drinking Water Coolers must comply with Indian Standard IS 1475 (Part 1): 2001 and display the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Exceptions:
This Order does not apply to goods or articles produced domestically for export.
For micro enterprises, as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the Order will take effect twelve months from the publication date of this notification.
For small enterprises, as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the Order will take effect nine months from the publication date of this notification.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is the designated authority for certifying and enforcing regulations for Self-Contained Drinking Water Coolers.
Any violations of this Order will be penalized in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
