Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes – Polyamide 3- 4- 8- and 12-Strand ropes) Quality Control Order, 2024.
The Ministry of Textiles has released the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Order, 2024. It will become effective six months following its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, this Order will take effect nine months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
This Order covers Polyamide fibre ropes in 3-strand, 4-strand, 8-strand, and 12-strand configurations.
This Order does not apply to these goods if they are intended for export.
The mentioned ropes must meet Indian Standard IS 4572:2022 and display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II as outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcement authority for these ropes.
