Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Textiles - Composite synthetic fibre ropes) Quality Control Order, 2024.
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the draft Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Order, 2024, which will come into effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act 27 of 2006), the Order will come into force nine months after publication.
The Order applies to textiles, specifically composite synthetic fiber ropes, and excludes products intended for export.
Composite synthetic fiber ropes must meet Indian Standard IS 14928:2001 and display the Standard Mark. This Mark must be obtained through a BIS license under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will handle certification and enforcement for compliance with this Order concerning composite synthetic fiber ropes.
