Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes- Polyester 3- , 4-, 8- and 12- strand ropes) Quality Control Order, 2024.
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the draft Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Order, 2024. This Order will be effective six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act 27 of 2006), the Order will come into force nine months after its publication.
The Order applies to polyester fiber ropes, including 3-strand, 4-strand, 8-strand, and 12-strand types, and does not cover products intended for export.
Polyester fiber ropes must adhere to Indian Standard IS 11066:2022 and display the Standard Mark. This Mark is to be obtained through a BIS license, as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for polyester fiber ropes.
