Dear Reader,
Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for Hand Tools (Single-ended Open-jaw Adjustable Wrenches) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has officially announced the Hand Tools (Quality Control) Order, 2024. This regulation aims to set new quality standards for hand tools in the market. Stay updated on compliance requirements to ensure your products meet these standards!
The Hand Tools (Quality Control) Order, 2024, will take effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette. However, specific timelines are designated for small and micro enterprises as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006:
Small Enterprises: The order will become effective nine months post-publication.
Micro Enterprises: The order will take effect twelve months post-publication.
All hand tools must adhere to Indian Standard IS 6149:1984 (Single-ended Open-jaw Adjustable Wrenches) and must display the Standard Mark issued under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. This requirement aligns with Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Ensure your products meet these standards for compliance and quality assurance in the market!
Please note that the Hand Tools (Quality Control) Order, 2024, does not apply to domestically manufactured goods intended for export. The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for all hand tools. Ensure that your products meet their guidelines for compliance and quality assurance in the market! Individuals or entities found in violation of this order may face penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. Ensure compliance to avoid legal issues and uphold industry standards!
