Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Textiles - Mixed Polyolefin Fibre Ropes) Quality Control Order, 2024.
Ropes and Cordages (Textiles - Mixed Polyolefin Fibre Ropes)
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Textiles has released the draft Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Order, 2024. This Order will take effect on April 1, 2025.
For Small and Micro Enterprises defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act 27 of 2006), the Order will take effect on July 1, 2025.
The Order applies to textiles, specifically Mixed Polyolefin Fiber Ropes, and excludes products intended for export.
QCO Order New
Mixed Polyolefin Fiber Ropes must meet Indian Standard IS 14929:2022 and carry the Standard Mark. This Mark must be obtained through a BIS license under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will oversee certification and enforcement of compliance with this Order for Mixed Polyolefin Fiber Ropes.
