Dear Reader,
Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Amendment Order for the Copper (Quality Control) Order.
The Ministry of Mines has issued the "Copper (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023," which updates Indian Standard IS 191:2007. This amendment will take effect from June 1, 2024, following its publication in the Official Gazette.
This order applies to all copper goods or articles, excluding those intended for export. Compliance with Indian Standard IS 191:2007 is mandatory for these products.
To demonstrate adherence, copper goods must display the Standard Mark, which requires a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is the designated authority for certifying and enforcing standards for copper goods and articles.
This body will manage the certification process and ensure compliance with the specified standards.
