Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes Polyethylene 3- and 4 -strand ropes) Quality Control Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Order, 2024, which will become effective on April 1, 2025.
For Small and Micro Enterprises defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will come into force on July 1, 2025.
The Order applies to polyethylene fiber ropes in 3-strand and 4-strand configurations and excludes products intended for export.
QCO Order New
Polyethylene fiber ropes must adhere to Indian Standard IS 8674:2013 and display the Standard Mark. This Mark must be obtained under a BIS license, as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will be the certifying and enforcing authority for these ropes.
