The Ministry of Textiles has announced an extension for the Quality Control Order, 2023, effective January 1, 2025.

This order specifically applies to products such as Baby Diapers, excluding those intended for export and items produced by Self Help Groups (SHGs).

Self Help Groups (SHGs) are defined as small, informal collectives of 10 to 20 individuals who voluntarily unite based on similar social and economic backgrounds. Their primary goal is to encourage savings habits and collectively manage resources for mutual benefit. In hilly or tribal regions, smaller groups with a minimum of 5 members can also form SHGs.

To ensure compliance, Baby Diapers must conform to the Indian Standard IS 17509:2021 and display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme – I of Schedule – II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
