Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes of polyester / polyolefin dual fibres) Quality Control Order, 2024.
The Ministry of Textiles has announced the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Order, 2024, which will come into effect six months following its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will take effect nine months after the publication date.
This Order applies to fiber ropes made from polyester and polyolefin dual fibers. It does not apply to these products if they are intended for export.
Polyester and polyolefin dual fiber ropes must comply with Indian Standard IS 17609:2021 and display the Standard Mark. This Mark must be obtained under a BIS license, as specified in Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will act as the certifying and enforcing authority for these ropes.
